Considering the direction the game was heading, it sounds like to me this is for the best... The experience system was increased to an ridiculous level in my opinion. Hardly gaining any points, while at the same time the amount needed to level up your character was by far way too much for the casual gamer. Seriously, who would want to spend that much time trying to get stronger without having to purchase GamesCampus points to increase the "rate" of experience gain anyways. (I know I wouldn't...) Everything else seemed to be ok to me, but it was the leveling system that needed to be reevaluated and rebuilt from the ground up. That is my thoughts over this closing...

It's not like its closing forever, they need to apparently work out a lot of kinks so its for the best. Besides, it was still in its beta stages to locate all these problems anyway. It will be back in roughly 6-8 months so until then, we'll just have to wait and hope for the best I suppose.

Well they did say they're gonna come back to 6-8 months. (Summer) So, I'm not losing all my hope on this game. It's just frustrating that they're closing after I met sooo many new friends that enjoy this game with me.(Can't even contact some of them while they're on vacation. D<) It's also kinda weird for them not to tell us before hand; after a months worth of silence. Well I guess we have to find a new MMO/game before SM comes back. I'm probably gonna head over on to Iris Online along with some of the friends that I made in SM. ^ ^ (Wanted to let some steam out. ^ ^;;)

http://iris.gpotato.com/teaser/about.htmlYou can read about it here. I just heard about it and it's still on Closed Beta. EDIT: The game is closed at the moment. (cause CB ended) And will be back at mid November for Open Beta I believe.

What I read in that article from the link Light posted, the game may become more of an regular MMO-style character progression type. How the game will change in the coming months overall, we'll just have to wait and see.

Awesomeness

This game is dead. I'm sorry, but to think otherwise is just self-delusion. The last "update" put the nail in the coffin with the exp changes. The company clearly shows that this game is not a high priority and that you are a sucker for even paying one cent to this company.
That's not to say that we didn't have a good time with it while it lasted though:
The good:
-Levels 1-10 were amazing. It was extremely fun. A nice variety of quests and missions. The tutorials were very helpful. -The UI. Or rather what parts of it were complete. Had a nice smooth feel to it and was very responsive. Very good for a beta. -The real-time gameplay. Doing street fighter-style combos and managing your army was very innovative and entertaining. -Very challenging (albeit not very rewarding most of the time) bosses in some of the missions. -Low system requirements yet still fairly eye-appealing.
The bad:
-Levels 11-20 were terrible. The quests suddenly became 3x harder with almost no gain in rewards, exp or money-wise. Yes, you could get more crafting materials to drop but those were purely RNG-based. -Knight class. Defense is simply not a good enough stat right now. Why does a bearcat have 70% of a knight's defense, 90% of a knight's hp, but do 2-3x more damage? Knights have the worst specials as well. -2-3 and 6-3, or as I like to call it, "the worst exp system ever designed." I shouldn't have to go into detail about why 2-3 and 6-3 is ruining the game. Anyone that is past level 10 knows why. -PvP matchmaking. Or rather, lack thereof. There's no level restrictions whatsoever. You have level 25+ with insane items beating up level 15's. Still, I will just assume that you would have implemented a good matchmaking system sometime in the alternate future in which this game was actually a success past beta. -Quests not granting more than one person a completed objective at the same time. What kind of genius thought this was a good idea? Seriously. -Lack of quest creativity. Kill x monsters. Talk to x NPC. Collect x things. Rinse, repeat. -Lack of character customization. Why does everyone look the exact same? What point is there in customizing your character at the start just so your smart armor can overwrite every single detail?
The ugly:
-Level 21+. I hope you love 2-3 and 6-3. Mmmhm. -Crafting system. Without a doubt, simply the worst system I have ever encountered in an MMO. Rare, RANDOM drops from questing and pvping. Ok, not so bad. Then you try to go make something and it fails. Why? Because the rates of success are mind-boggling ludicrous. A 50% chance to make a tier 1 item. A 20% chance to make a tier 4 item. Of course you could remedy this by paying $5 per crafting attempt and increase the rates by 10%. With tier 4 goods as rare as they are, the percentages do not need to be so low. Why not simply require more materials and have it become 100% in every tier? Oh, cause the crafting system is one giant real money sinkhole and they wouldn't be able to capitalize on profits using this method. Gotcha. -Gem ID scrolls. Same thing as crafting system. One giant real money sinkhole. Can't get higher than +5 if you don't pay real cash. Pay to win, baby. -The lack of maharite and new content. Beaten to death in many other topics, won't go into detail here. Basically, a lack of developer support/customer care by GC - some of the worst I've ever seen. -Bazaar-style markets. These are horribly outdated and not fun to deal with at all. It lags up the main area and spams your screen with "xxx player's goods." Auction house, please. -The uselessness of lind. Seriously, besides buying beginner gear and skills, there's no real use for lind beyond level 20ish. At ALL. High level players have millions of lind that they can't use for ANYTHING. -The release of the cash shop before beta ended. Right away I thought this was quite fishy. Who the hell allows you to spend real money to play in a beta? It sounded like a huge scam to me. And judging by the current SM population, I'd say they're nearing the end of their scam.
I stand for all of these remarks.
PS. I didn't write this : D

I never really got a chance to join Soul Master. But I was looking forward to joining. I wish I could join when it reopens but I don't think I would be into then, also life is getting filled up with things to do. So I guess it will have to wait .

What I hate most is, I spent money on the game... Now I lose all of that, with my items, and my account, EVERYTHING.
Very upsetting...

Still alive. I log on very rarely when I feel nostalgic. Feel free to say hi! (Updated 10.09.2022)
