I’ve decided to feature another of Alice’s stories, I hope you enjoy!
Ghostly
*~Prologue~*

There has always been controversy about what lies beyond the grave; if there is a spirit plain among the living that is walked upon by the dead.

There are skeptics who believe that ghosts and mythical beings are nothing but a child’s fantasy that has gone too far and poisoned the minds of the weak-minded.

Then there are those who believe in the spirits roaming the earth; some for closure and some for a more demonic purpose. Those people are called believers and there are a select few that dedicate their life to finding answers.

Why do the spirits roam in the land of the living? What are their purposes? Is there any way to aid them to the other side?
These are just a few questions that are asked by the believers; but there is one question that is rarely asked.

Will the believers wish to know the answers in the end?
There are some things that are kept a secret for a reason. This is a tale about two such people; one a believer and one a skeptic. Their paths crossed in the midst of a mystery that would take them both on the ride of their lives.

It all started with a house; one that held a dark secret that spanned hundreds of years. What resided there amongst the grounds was more than either side could have ever hoped for.

*~End~*

Band Spotlight by Skilletfan
I am going to do a spotlight on the band Black Veil Brides. Of the songs that I have heard by this band so far, they have all been very good. My favorite song has to be “Perfect Weapon”. They also have good guitar solos in some of their songs. That concludes this week’s band spotlight, thanks for reading

Ghoulish Gigs Attract Thousands of Heroes: An In-Game Report by Jake MagnavoX

Earlier this week, I had gone in game to check out what has the entire Cartoon Network Universe babbling about, and boy was it well worth the time! After two years, Dracula has decided to visit the Peach Creek Commons cul-de-sac to spice up heroes' Halloween celebrations.

However, Dracula's a little bit picky about what he has to sell the players. His inventory includes Pumpkin C.R.A.T.E.s from last year, new ones for this year, and some special Ben 10-inspired sets that help players transition into the Halloween affect. These special items can cost as much as 50,000 Taros!

Of course, the players are looking to host their own player-run events throughout October as well. Are YOU one of those people? Check out the first link at the end of this article to register your player-run event today! Visitors may also visit that link to make plans for which ones they may want to attend!

Sources also tell that the Cartoon Network Universe's leading team members are going to be planning some things for us all as well!

That's all I've got for you this week, everybody! See you next time, and I hope you enjoy the rest of today's edition of the Darklands Gazette!

Mobile Suit of the Week by SFreedom

This Unit appears in the the six ep ova anime ,three years after the events of Char's Counterattack

RX-0 Unicorn Gundam (aka Unicorn Gundam, Unicorn, RX-0) is the titular mobile suit of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, piloted by Banagher Links. When used for noble reasons by a pilot possessing the proper character, the RX-0 is the "key" to opening a mysterious object known only as "Laplace's Box".

Incorporating test data obtained from the experimental MSN-06S Sinanju, the entire frame is lined with psyco-frame receptors, drastically increasing the responsiveness of the unit and allowing it to be piloted like an extension of the pilot's body. In some cases, this responsiveness is so high that it appears the suit acts of its own accord without the pilot making any conscious actions. It utilizes a special "La+ Program" OS and a system known as the "NT-D (Newtype-Destroyer)", which activates the suit's psyco-frame and dramatically increases the suits performance.

In its normal mode, the Unicorn's head is similar in appearance to those of Londo Bell's mass-produced mobile suits, with the addition of a single, horn-like antenna extending from the forehead (hence the name "Unicorn"). In terms of its armaments in normal mode, the Unicorn is very lightly armed, with half of its built-in weaponry only being available in Destroy Mode.

Destroy Mode is the form the Unicorn Gundam takes when its NT-D System is activated. The transformation is marked by an expansion of the suit's frame. The armor seams separate and lock down into various hard-points, while the newly exposed psyco-frame emits a deep red glow (attributed to a psyco-frame luminescence phenomenon). In this mode, the mobile suit becomes taller and its head transforms to one having standard Gundam features, the visor and face guard transforming to reveal the mouth plate and the antenna splitting into a V-fin. In order to prevent its transformation being interrupted, its I-Field strength will be increased, at least temporary. Additionally a pair of beam Vulcan guns will be revealed on the shoulders, and two additional beam sabers will extend out of the backpack. In this form, the suit's psyco-frame scans the pilot's thoughts and directly transmits them to the suit's drive system; in other words, the Unicorn can ultimately be controlled by the pilot's thoughts alone. The machine's performance - its mobility in particular - is dramatically increased when the NT-D is active partially due to the exposure and activation of six additional thrusters. In addition to the performance boost, the NT-D also allows the Unicorn to take control of an enemy's psycommu weapons. However, the stress placed on the mind by manipulating an object more than tenfold the size of an average human is extraordinary.

Even with the aid of the psyco-frame the pilot's mind can only endure roughly five minutes of operation before a safeguard is believed to activate, deactivating the psyco-frame and returning the mobile suit to its normal form. Furthermore, the system activates not according to the pilot's discretion, but automatically upon the detection of another Newtype. The system also directs the movement of the suit when active, and does not completely depend on the pilot for commands. By default, the system will automatically attempt to destroy any Newtype enemies it detects, but requires the pilot to give it a conscience so it does not merely become a killing machine.

Armaments:

■ 60mm Vulcan Gun
Housed within the head. Hobby Japan lists it as a beam vulcan gun, though standard live rounds can also be used. ■Beam Gatling Gun
A manipulator-operated, Gatling-style beam weapon capable of high-rate firing. This fully automatic weapon was equipped by the Sleeves to the Unicorn when the machine escaped from Palau. Though initially incompatible when given enough time the Unicorn's OS can adapt to and recognize the beam Gatling gun. Though fully automatic the beam Gatling gun's individual shots are not as powerful as a beam rifle as they are seen to only chip away at the armor of an AMX-009 Dreissen mobile suit. The beam Gatling gun was destroyed by the funnels of the NZ-666 Kshatriya.

■ Beam Magnum
A highly customized beam rifle designed with an energy condenser, and is able to match the output of large mega-particle cannons. Normally, it functions like an ordinary beam rifle but utilizes a special E-cap magazine mechanism to produce mega-particle cannon yields at the expense of an entire E-cap battery. The Unicorn is outfitted with 10 spare customized E-Pacs on the back of its skirt. ■Beam Saber
The Unicorn is equipped with a total of four beams sabers. Each forearm stores a beam saber and can also be used while attached externally to the arms, a mechanism inherited from the Sinanju. In Destroy Mode, two additional beam sabers deploy from the backpack in a design reminiscent of the RX-78 Gundam. Also, while in Destroy Mode, the Unicorn is capable of generating giant beam sabers, capable of effortlessly slicing a large piece of debris clean in half. ■Hyper Bazooka
Standard-issue equipment to all Earth Federation Mobile Suits. However, its length varies between Unicorn Gundam's two modes. Fed with 6-round magazines. The rounds operate differently than a normal bazooka, as they explode before making contact and release small beams on par with vulcans. ■Shield
A four-petal shaped shield that houses an I-field barrier generator; the feature is operational in both Unicorn mode and Destroy mode.

System Features:

■ La+ Program
A unique Operating System that slowly reveals the path to unlock Laplace's Box once certain requirements are met. The program appears to be closely tied to both the NT-D and the Unicorn's pilot. Upon reaching Laplace at midnight Greenwich Mean Time, the program will broadcast the Universal Century inauguration speech and Federation Universal Century Charter made at Laplace in UC 0001. Ultimately, according to Daguza Mackle, the true purpose of the program might actually be to serve as a guidepost to test the pilot's heart as the program itself leads the pilot to the Box. ■Newtype-Destroyer (NT-D) System

■ Newtype-Destroyer (NT-D) System

It is unknown how the NT-D System exactly works, but it is only usable in the presence of a Newtype, though it has shown to also activate in the presence of Cyber Newtypes. The Unicorn uses its internal psycoframe and scans the surrounding area for Newtype brainwaves. If a Newtype was found, the system would activate and transform the Unicorn into its Destroy Mode. In Destroy Mode, the Unicorn Gundam's abilities are greatly increased and it can move at greater speeds thanks to the exposed thrusters. The NT-D System was also designed to combat Newtype mobile suits equipped with funnels. The system can take control of a enemy's funnel/bit units and use them against the pilot. The system is also automatically activated in the presence of a Newtype, but this can be subverted by the will of the pilot. The system itself lets the pilot mentally control the unit, thus making the unit immensely responsive to the pilot's commands. However, the system itself has a timer of 5 minutes, making sure the pilot will not die of fatigue; and will also immediately shut down if the pilot is in extremely bad condition

■ Weapon Device Driver
When the Unicorn aquires a new weapon, such as the Beam Gatling Gun, the weapon needs to be converted before the Unicorn can actually use it in battle. This gives Unicorn an advantage by allowing it to use any weapon it can obtain, on the battlefield, without the need to return to the mothership for configuring.

Writer’s Spotlight by Turqoiseangel
I’ve decided to feature another of Alice’s stories, I hope you enjoy!
Halloween
AN: Satchel, Fadi and Kadin belong to Taji and Antoinette and Boblu belongs to Jamie Canyon; I’m just borrowing them for storytelling purposes.

The jack-o-lanterns lit the streets of Peloquinn’s pier-side city while various people skipped down the roads dressed in the strangest of garbs. There were vampires, werewolves, witches and ghouls all together aimed for the steps of the grand hall of the Library of Ages; All-Hallows-Eve had finally commenced.

“Happy Halloween,” Korin chimed from her place on the steps of the Library, the fiery redhead adorning her Little Red Riding Hood costume and silver masquerade mask. “Please be mindful of your step; the party is this way. Enjoy yourselves this night.”

“Well, if it isn’t our little Red,” the apprentice blushed at the familiar voice, recognizing it to be Marken’s. She giggled as she felt two hands rest on her hips, each one belonging to the twins. Marken and Taren smiled down at the redhead, themselves dressed as pirates. “You look very pretty tonight, Korin.”

“Thanks Marken,” Korin said happily as she pulled away from the twins, turning to them with a smile. “You both look wonderful yourselves; I’m glad you could make it to the party.”

“Thank you, Korin,” Taren bowed in appreciation, tugging at Marken’s sleeve to keep him calm. He could tell that his brother wanted Korin to only praise him; however, she still had no idea that Marken was in love with her. The older twin wondered if his brother would ever find the happiness he so desperately sought with that lovely redhead. “I’m glad you were able to be up and about today; I know your old injuries have been bothering you as of late.”

“Yes, they have,” Korin mumbled quietly before perking up once more. “I’m just happy for it to be Halloween! I’m happy that Drelo brought this holiday to Peloquinn’s attention several years ago; it’s so fun to dress up and enjoy a night of frights and fun!”

The twins chuckled at the redhead’s cheers, pleased to see her so lively; it had truly been awhile since they had seen her genuinely smile. Korin was sad for the longest time since she was separated once more from Satchel, the messenger that she had fallen in love with. Marken had been trying desperately to have the redhead forget about the jumper, wishing to replace Satchel in Korin’s heart. It was hard to break Korin’s wishes for the messenger however; she truly loved him and desperately wanted to flee her world to find him.

“Come on, you two; the party’s about to start!” Korin shouted towards the twins as she skipped into the Grand Hall, amazed at all the attendants adorned in their wonderful costumes. “This is so wonderful!”

Marken and Taren exchanged looks before pushing up the remaining steps into the Grand Hall, careful to stay by the redhead’s side as Drelo stepped before the hall with a smile.

“Welcome everyone to our grand celebration on this All-Hallows-Eve; I am pleased to see so many little monsters scurrying about in the audience,” the master librarian chuckled as his audience laughed and cheered before him. “We shall dance the night away in the light of the full moon; we have delectable treats for everyone to enjoy. I hope you all have a frightful evening and enjoy the party!”

With that, Drelo raised his glass as the audience followed suit, all of them cheering for the party to commence. The band began to play their music and the dance floor was cleared for the masked guests to bustle onto the scene. Within minutes, the crowds were large as they swayed to the music, happy faces all around pleased with the festivities.

“It’s going to be a wonderful night,” Korin whispered to herself as she bowed to the twins, beginning to move into the crowds to greet as many as possible. “I’ll be back later; I have to do my rounds.”

The redhead bowed as she walked through the crowds, exchanging pleasantries to the guests as she walked. She could hear Sitzu, her fruit bat, squeaking happily from underneath her hood and she giggled.

“You can join in the party, Sitzu; I’m sure the children will all enjoy to see a bat floating about,” Korin said with a smile, hearing Sitzu’s refusal squeaks at the mention of the children. Every time Sitzu went to play with the children, they would get too rough with him and cause him to fly away in frustration. “All right, don’t worry; you don’t have to leave my side sweetie.”

“Korin!” A familiar girl’s voice chimed from the crowd as someone in a modernized angel costume came barreling through, dragging a demon-dressed being with her as she waved towards Korin. She was immediately recognized as Antoinette, one of Korin’s closest friends. “I’m so glad to see you!”
“Annie, you’re back in Peloquinn!” Korin chimed as she hugged the girl happily before petting the dragon perched up on the opposite redhead’s shoulder. “It’s good to see you and Boblu; I thought you would be out of the city for awhile because of-well, you know-him.”

“We couldn’t miss this party; it was the best chance to have Deblin walk around without being seen,” Annie whispered as she nodded to the demon beside her, the man pulling away the mask slightly to show Deblin’s smirk to Korin. “We’re so glad we got to see you though; I’ve been worried about you. I heard you got severely injured in one of your missions; are you all right?”

“I wouldn’t say severely injured,” Korin blushed as she spoke. “I’m all right; I wish that-well-Satchel could have returned with me or we could have stayed together. I just can’t help thinking about him; you know…it’s hard.”

“I completely understand,” Annie said as she hugged around Korin’s shoulders, nodding towards Deblin with a smile. “It’s hard to believe that Deblin and I used to fight about everything and now we’re happily together.”

“Well, we still fight but for the most part, we’re pretty happy,” Deblin chimed in beside them, Annie pulling away from her friend as she lightly punched the thief’s shoulder. “I know I’m happier having her by my side to look after me.”

Korin couldn’t help but grin from ear to ear as the two embraced before her, the apprentice praising them before bowing and preparing to usher them off.

“You two should continue to dance in the crowd,” Korin whispered to them as she winked. “I don’t want anyone to grow suspicious of you both. I’ll come find you later on in the evening. I’m so glad to see you both.”

“Same to us,” Annie replied as she waved Korin off towards the other guests. “Come see us soon; we miss you!”

The apprentice skipped around through the crowd and began small conversations with the guests, happy to hear the various news from each person. It had been awhile since she was out and about in town so she had not had a chance to speak with many people when she returned from her latest mission. Soon, Korin came to the side of a man dressed in a normal suit with a white masquerade mask to hide his identity. However, the redhead could tell immediately who that tall, tanned gentleman was.

“Ozi! You came down from the mountain to enjoy the party?” Korin rushed to the man’s side, smiling up at him while the beast tamer blushed in embarrassment. “I’m glad to see you; I thought you would be busy with all the creatures on the mountain.”

“My master-he-he told me to go ahead down to the party; he was going to watch the animals for the night,” Ozi stuttered as he shuffled into his corner with a shy glance towards the girl. “I-I didn’t have anything to wear really though; you see, I’m usually so busy with the creatures that I don’t get to celebrate these occasions ever. I ended up having only this to wear; I look stupid, don’t I?”

“Not at all; you look great,” Korin said with a grin, patting the man’s arm lightly for reassurance. “I’m glad you’re here Ozi; I’ve been meaning to come see you on the mountain.”

“It’s-it’s all right; I know you’ve been dealing with your injuries,” Ozi retorted with the slightest of smiles. “It’s good to see you; you look great as well.”

“You’re so sweet,” Korin bowed as she lifted Sitzu from her hood, the fruit bat squeaking happily as he flew to Ozi’s shoulder. The beast tamer seemed to relax at the bat’s attention, petting him carefully as he smiled. “So, I hear you’ve got your eye on a pretty girl nowadays; my master and your master are always chatting about these kinds of things. Who is it? Do I know her?”

Ozi seemed to blush more at the girl’s question but he quickly shook his head with a wink.

“I’ll tell you later; you should be focused on the party,” Ozi mumbled as he returned Sitzu to the girl, bowing to her before he ushered her towards the crowds. “We can talk later; you should finish your duties first.”

Korin frowned as she realized the beast tamer had dodged her question but she relented and nodded, returning to the task at hand. Bowing to Ozi, she quickly addressed the other guests with a smile and warm welcome.

The redhead continued her duties for a good hour, making sure she made her presence known to every guest in the hall. She was almost ready to settle in and return to her friends when she noticed two mask men along the farthest walls of the hall, both keeping to themselves as they kept their gaze on the crowd with interest. Korin watched them carefully before tiptoeing over towards them, wondering who they could have been.

“Excuse me, can I help you?” Korin asked with a friendly smile. “You both seem awfully quiet; it’s a party so I find this rather odd.”

“We were actually waiting for the most lovely lady around to approach us,” one of the men sent a flashy smile in Korin’s direction as he lowered himself onto his knee, taking Korin’s hand and giving it a light kiss. “It seems that we got our wish.”
Korin immediately recognized the man’s voice before her as Kadin’s, the redhead blushing wildly while the other masked man nudged Kadin away from her. Her crystal blue eyes were wide as she glanced between the men, wondering if she were dreaming.

“Kadin and Mister Satchet?” Korin whispered in disbelief as the one she knew to be Kadin pulled himself to his feet, smirking as he nodded. “I don’t believe it; you’re both here?”

“Of course we’re here,” Kadin said as he pulled the other man to his side, Satchel unable to bring his eyes up from his feet. “In one of your letters, you talked about this Halloween party you all had and we couldn’t miss out on it. Also, Satchel here couldn’t stop talking about you. He’s missed you terribly.”

“Kadin-,” Satchel finally spoke up as he sighed, reaching a hand forward and taking the redhead’s hand across from him. “I-it’s good to s-see you, Korin; I-I’ve missed you.”

“Sa-Satchel,” Korin stuttered as she glanced around carefully, taking both the men’s hands and dragging them into the courtyard away from party. Once she knew she was away from watchful glances, Korin threw her arms around Satchel as tears began to fall down her cheeks. “I’ve missed you so much! What are you doing here?”

“I told you already; we wanted to party,” Kadin piped in from behind the embracing duo.

“We knew that this would be the safest night to come see you,” Satchel said with a smile. “We’re only here for a little while; however, any moment I have to see you is wonderful.”
“Satchel,” Korin cried as they continued his embrace, Kadin rolling his eyes as he realized he was the third wheel in the group.

“Enough; Fadi wants to see you too,” Kadin hissed as he separated the two of them, whistling while a hefty rock dragon came barreling through the bushes over to Korin excitedly. “He’s missed you a lot.”
“Aw, Fadi,” Korin giggled as she knelt beside the rock dragon, patting his cool head while he panted happily. “It’s good to see you, boy.”

Sitzu peeled himself out from the redhead’s hood as he flew up to greet Kadin and Satchel, the two men pleased to see the small fruit bat so lively before them. Korin picked herself up from the ground and she bowed to her friends before tensing as a slow song began to play inside the hall.

“Oho; looks like it’s time for your dance,” Kadin chimed as he pushed Satchel forward, taking hold of Sitzu and Fadi and backing up into the deeper parts of the courtyard. “Have a good time, you two!”

“Kadin!” Satchel growled at his retreating friend before sighing and holding out a hand towards Korin, the messenger blushing slightly as he nodded. “May I have this dance, Korin?”

“Of course,” Korin whispered with a bow, taking the man’s hand gratefully as he pulled her into his arms. The two of them began to sway with the music, their eyes locked as the girl smiled. “I’ve really missed you; there hasn’t been a day that goes by that I don’t think about you.”

“I think about you every day as well, Love; I await the day when you’re able to leave here freely and come along for the ride with me and Kadin. We’ve seen many places during our run,” Satchel expressed with a grin. “Of course, you’ve seen many places as well over the years haven’t you? You are the apprentice of Drelo so I expect you’ve faced more worlds than I.”

“It’s possible; Drelo would send me everywhere for different assignments,” Korin replied with a blush. “I do hope for the same thing though; I want to finish my apprenticeship and follow you wherever you may go. Gosh, that sounds stupid of me, doesn’t it?”
“Why would it be stupid?” Satchel asked with a chuckle. “It’s nice to have someone care about me so much; especially since it’s someone I care about so much as well.”

“Satchel, you’re so sweet,” Korin whispered as their foreheads touched; the two of them in their own little world as they continued to dance.

“It’s rare for you to actually use my own name,” Satchel whispered.

“I know; I’m just really happy is all,” Korin admitted before leaning in and kissing the man lightly on the lips. Satchel returned the kiss happily as the two of them ceased their dance, embracing each other for fear of losing one-another once more. The two of them lingered there for a good while until Kadin came waltzing over, the knight suddenly sporting a sad smile as he nodded.

“We need to get out of here, Satchel,” Kadin advised as he let Sitzu fly to his redheaded master, Fadi whimpering as he lowered himself at his master’s feet. “If we stay here too long, we’ll be sure to catch someone’s attention. It’s time to bid adieu to the lovely maiden.”

“You’re such a flirt, Kadin,” Korin said with a giggle before she kissed Satchel one last time, stepping away from him as she bowed. “I’m going to work hard and join you both soon so be prepared.”

“I’ll expect nothing less from you,” Satchel retorted as he nodded, groaning as Kadin pulled him back to his side. “I’m glad I was able to see you, Love; I’ll continue to await the day you can be by my side.”

“And I as well,” Korin whispered to the boys, waving as she tried to hold back her tears. “I’ll miss you all very much.”

“We’ll miss you too, Korin!” Kadin exclaimed with a wink. “I’ll take care of Satchel for you until you come back to us!”

“Kadin!” Satchel seemed to whine beside his friend as Kadin childishly nudged his friend, the three of them taking a jump back to their current world. “Goodbye Korin; I’ll miss you, Love!”

“I’ll miss you too,” Korin answered though she didn’t know if he had heard her before they vanished without a trace. Sitzu squeaked from his spot on her shoulder, glancing up at his master with curious eyes. “I’m all right Sitzu; I’m going to work hard.”

“There you are, Korin!” Taren’s voice chimed from the balcony, the two twins waving down at the girl as they smiled. “We were looking everywhere for you; you owe us a dance!”

“She owes me one as well,” Ozi spoke up from beside the twins as he glanced over the railing, waving down at the surprised redhead below. “Come on, Korin; we miss you up here.”

Korin blushed at the attention her friends were giving her, her eyes noticing Annie and Deblin waving from the windows down below towards her. She had to admit, she would miss everyone if she had left her lands to go with Satchel; however, Satchel was one of the most important people in her life and she couldn’t just let him get away. If only there were a chance that everyone could live in the same area without fear; it was an unrealistic dream but Korin didn’t let it fall by the wayside.

“Korin, you coming?”

“Yes, I’m coming!” Korin cheered as she smiled, skipping up the steps into the hall where her friends would be waiting for her.

*End*

Dracula is back! By TurqoiseAngel
Halloween has come once again with its tricks and treats, but no Halloween would be complete with our favorite NPC, Dracula! Our vampire friend has appeared in the Cul-de-Sac and is selling special Halloween items. Also making its return for Halloween is the Fusion Wraith holosuit, pieces can be found in Dracula’s pumpkins. Some new Ben10 themed outfits have also made an appearance to make Halloween more interesting. Be careful while heading towards the Cul-de-Sac since it becomes extremely laggy during the daytime. But other than that, have a Happy Halloween in FusionFall!

I’ve decided to feature another of Alice’s stories, I hope you enjoy!
The Misfit Players: Chapter Thirteen
There was little time for Lex to react as another boulder sailed through the air, narrowly missing his shoulder blade. The redheaded teen hissed as Chomp raised high and snapped his jaws at the monster’s ammunition, shattering it and spitting out the crumbled rocks. His red eyes were narrowed at the creature threatening his friend, ready for him to give the signal.

“It’s clear we got his attention,” Lex muttered with a smirk, managing to skid to a stop before he reached the monster’s level. “All right, now’s the time to make a move buddy!”

“I thought you’d never ask!” Chomp exclaimed as he launched forward off of his partner’s shoulder, slithering down towards his prey with a toothy grin. “Hope you’re ready to become lunch, Ugly! Grow grow grow!”

His black chain wrapped around Lex’s arm as he began to grow in size, his red eyes burning themselves towards the stunned creature. The prey moaned in fear as it watched the black ball, itself showing a slight tremble as the imaginary friend went from the size of a soccer ball to the size of a large truck.

“Holy-!” Dustin’s gasps from the top of the cliff could be heard at the low levels as Chomp hissed and lunged forward, slamming its head into the creature. The fight lasted only a few seconds as the imaginary friend lived up to his name, slamming the creature down several times before swallowing his prey whole in one bite. “He-He just…How did he-?”

“Chomp’s just your everyday, run-of-the mill imaginary friend, silly,” Dustin and Abbey both glanced over at the smiling girl to their right, shocked at how calm she was taking everything. “My brother played a lot of video games while we were growing up. One day, he imagined up Chomp there. He’s like a metal snake that can change his size on the drop of a hat. He also eats basically anything that gets in his way so I’d avoid his mouth region when he’s on the move. They do argue a bunch but I think that shows how much they care for each other; they both want to keep the other one as safe as possible without saying it to their face.”

Dustin held his tongue as he nodded, unsure of what to make of it all. He had heard of imaginary friends and seen them from time to time but that was the first time he ever saw one created with such a violent mindset. Not only that but the most innocent girl twin beside him seemed to hold some great power within her that was able to send the creature flying. But how, she had no weapons whatsoever; just a pair of studio headphones resting snug around her neck. She had the attitude of an everyday girl with a somewhat clueless, carefree attitude; what kind of power did she have lying dormant within her?

“Mister, you ok?” Mae’s voice broke the teen from his thoughts, Dustin quickly giving a nod in reply. “Oh good, you seemed like you were worried about something; I just wanted to make sure you were ok.”

“He’s probably just quaking in his boots, Mae,” Lex’s voice hissed from the Cliffside as the giant snake slithered up beside the group, the male twin mounted atop his companion’s head as he fumed. “Now why in the world are you all still here? I would have figured you two would be running-or flying- for the hills about now. You can already see that this warzone is no place for the likes of you so beat it!”

“Your display simply charges my hopes in joining the Misfit Players even more,” Abby said simply with a light smirk, the girl reaching over and touching Matt’s hand. The teen tensed at the soft touch, eyeing her with curious eyes as the fairy continued to speak. “So stop with your high-and-mighty attitude; we acknowledge your strength and determination as great and we simply want to fight alongside you. Is that really so much to ask for?”

“I’m getting tired of repeating myself!” Lex howled in anger, him and his imaginary friend glaring daggers at the two newcomers all while his sister panicked in place. “We don’t need amateurs out here who are just trying to prove themselves; this war is serious and requires experienced fighters to handle things. We’ve worked hard to get to this point; we aren’t about to babysit a bunch of kids who think they’re the **** when they really can’t handle things! I mean, look at you Miss Fairy; I’m sure you have some power in you but you and your buddy couldn’t even handle that one creature on your own. Your friend doesn’t even have anything special about him! What makes you think you could even make a dent in this fight?”

“Lex, please st-,” Mae began to interrupt but her brother hissed at her attempts.

“If you two don’t back down and hit the road, we’ll just have to force you back ourselves,” Lex fussed as Chomp slithered forward, his fangs bared at the two newcomers. “Mae, you’re going to help too! Get ready!”

“What are you doing, Lex? They’re innocent people!” Mae exclaimed as she stepped forward, her hands raised up protectively before the two teens. “We can’t just attack them because they won’t back down; please stop this now! I’m sure we can work something out!”

“Mae, now!”

“But Lex, I-,” Mae’s words were cut short as the redheaded girl was yanked backwards, her head colliding with the rocks as something entangled her leg and pulled her backwards towards the Oceanside.

“Mae!” Lex shouted at the sight of his sister being yanked away, the blood leaking from her head wound causing him to go pale. “Mae! Something has Mae! Chomp!”

“What is that thing?” Chomp gasped as he was held back by the male twin, the group all watching as seven tentacles wrapped themselves the rocks of the cliff. An eighth tentacle held up the unconscious sister as the other tentacles pulled at the rocks, a large squid-like creature with greenish skin and blood red eyes emerging from the depths of the ocean. It seemed to have its eyes fixated on Lex and the imaginary friend in his possession. “Lex; what do you want me to do?”

“That (Censored)’s got my sister; what the hell do you think I want you to do!” Lex shouted in reply as he put his lip, trying his best to formulate a plan. If Mae wasn’t at risk of being dropped towards the jagged rocks below, Lex wouldn’t mind going all out against the creature standing against him. As much as he wanted to send the creature to hell himself, Lex wasn’t about to risk his sister’s life in the process. “Chomp, is there any way you can get her out of his grasps while taking him on?”

“I wouldn’t be able to attack the monster and save Mae if she drops,” Chomp growled his response, feeling how tense his partner had become. “I’ll attack the monster if I need to but someone’s going to have to get Mae when she drops; I don’t want to take any unnecessary actions right now, buddy, but this monster is going to come after us next if I don’t do something now.”

“What the hell am I supposed to do to save her; that thing has her dangling over the water and rocks!” Lex snapped back, his eyes wavering in panic. “It’s not like I have wings or anything like that; how am I supposed to get to her?”

“Have you honestly forgotten about us already?” Lex gasped at the girl’s voice, the male twin turning his head to stare at the newcomers. Dustin gawked in horror at the scene before him while Abby stood there with a smirk, her fists balled up and ready to attack. “I have wings!”

“I guess you do,” Lex muttered to himself, a look of hesitance befalling him before he sighed and frowned at the girl. “Fine, Tinkerbell, just quit with that ****y look of yours and listen up! You help with my sister and you and your boyfriend can get a spot on the team at your own risk; deal?”

“My name’s not Tinkerbell! And he’s not my boyfriend!” Abby snapped in response before lifting up in the air and aiming for the monster. “This will be easy though so deal; steer clear Dustin!”

The male twin nodded in approval and leapt from his mount, the imaginary friend rearing and charging towards the monster before him. His fangs pierced into the closest tentacle clinging to the rocks and it let out a piercing cry of pain and disapproval. However, it stayed firm at the side of the cliff as it lifted up another tentacle and aimed it directly for Chomp, the imaginary friend narrowly escaping the attack as it weaved around the pounding tentacles that now pursued him.

“Thanks for distracting him,” Abby muttered to herself as she rose up towards the dangling girl, the monster yet to notice her actions. The fairy smiled before lifting up her hands, the brunette taking a few deep breaths as she prepared for what was to come. “Steady hands; don’t let her fall. Remember, you’re a hero.”

Abby’s eyes began to glow silver as she focused her power to her hands, the glow returning to her fingertips. The glow took the form of two orbs of light within the fairy’s hands, themselves launching forth as they gathered enough energy for the attack. The orbs dashed through the air and collided with the monster’s tentacle, itself letting out another cry of pain as it released Rae. The unconscious girl plummeted downward towards the waves, Abby quickly reacting as she dove after her. Within seconds, Abby had a hold of Mae’s ankle and was lifting her up towards the safety of the cliffs. She caught Lex’s stare and smirked over at him; Abby knew she had done herself and Dustin proud for her actions.

“See? I’m worth having around after all,” Abby said with a chuckle as she placed the unconscious girl lightly on the ground, Lex running over to check on his sister’s state while his imaginary friend kept on the offence.

“I’m thankful and all but you do realize that the monster is still alive and kicking right?” Lex muttered over his shoulder as his hand graced his sister’s cut forehead, sighing as he noticed it wasn’t a terrible wound. Abby fumed in place but nodded, knowing the male twin was right; the creature was still alive and strong. “I’m going to have to get her to the others; Chomp, is there any way you can finish him?”

“I’m-I’m trying,” Chomp howled in pain as he was thrown back by the tentacle, unable to retaliate as the three more tentacles followed up with an attack of their own. “Ah!”

“Chomp!” Lex gasped as he watched his imaginary friend roll back in pain, cascading down the beachside of the cliffs. “Oh no!”

“Ah, hang on!” Abby stepped forward and raised her hands again, this time an invisible shield forming around the group as they watched the creature’s tentacles collide with the force field. “I can’t hold him for long; you guys should get down to the beach and run for the piers!”

“We can’t just leave you here!” Lex exclaimed with a frown. “This is supposed to be Mae and mine’s responsibility; I would be punished for leaving amateurs alone here! Why doesn’t your boyfriend take Mae down to the beach?”

“I’m not her boyfriend!” Dustin retorted with a frown of his own, himself standing strong behind Abby. “I’m not leaving my friends here to be thrashed around by this punk! I’m staying here!”

“Dustin-,” Abby began with a weak smile over her shoulder but suddenly gasped as something caught her eye. “Dustin!”

The teen blinked at the girl’s sudden panicked tone before stumbling at the sudden feeling of a burning sensation at his chest. Reaching a hand up, Dustin felt the ring that was looming on the chain around his neck that his father had given him. The silver was burning at the touch, Dustin yanking his hand away as he hissed in pain.

“What’s going on?” Dustin questioned through gritted teeth, Lex turning his head towards the boy in shock. Where the ring rested on his chest, a strange symbol appeared there on his skin and glowed through his shirt. It seemed to break out from the ring’s location and spin out further along his body, burning into his skin as he cried out in pain. “This hurts! What’s going on?”

“We were hoping you could tell us,” Lex muttered as he held Mae up in his arms, the male twin getting to his feet as he heard Chomp stir from down below. “I thought you said you didn’t have anything special going on with you.”

“Like I knew this was going to happen!” Dustin exclaimed with a panicked tone, the teen howling in pain as the marks continued to spread over his body.

“That ring,” Abby interrupted with her soft voice, the fairy continuing to hold the barrier despite being distracted. “Did you father give you that ring?”

“What?” Dustin glanced over at the girl through squinted eyes, managing a slow nod at her question. “Yeah, he gave it to me before I came after you!”

“He must have known this would happen,” Abby whispered as she recalled speaking with the man, remembering him saying that she would see the object soon enough with that ****y grin of his. “Dustin, remain calm, your father gave you that ring for a reason; this is supposed to happen! Just bear with it and it will be over before you know it!”

“Easy for you to say,” Dustin got out as he howled in pain once more. “You have no idea how much this hurts! And why are you acting so confident; do you know what’s going on?”

“No, I don’t know what’s going on,” Abby said with confidence as she returned her attention to the pounding tentacles, her barrier almost succumbing to their strength. “All I know is that your father would not simply give you something that would hurt you for no reason; he’s doing what he feels is best for you. Whatever it is; it’s meant to help you.”

Dustin paused as he repeated the girl’s words in his mind, believing them to be true. His father gave him the ring for a reason; he went back to the house to retrieve it so it must have been very important. It was obviously not normal; the markings on his skin and the painful sensation flowing through Dustin’s veins were proof of that. But what did it all mean? All Dustin wished for was answers.

“Ah!” Abby hissed in pain as her barrier was shattered, the tentacle now aimed to collide with her. “I can’t get away in time!”

“Abby!” Dustin gasped as he stepped forward, hoping to push the girl out of the way of the tentacle’s path. However, the markings began to glow even brighter as the pain seemed to coarse through his entire body. It seemed as if something bright was emerging from the markings, the substance seeming to surround Dustin’s body and building up into a large form. It was as if Dustin had become the core of a large, glowing creature, his howl of anger echoing over Bravo Beach as it bashed the tentacles away from the fairy.

“Dustin, you-!” Abby stumbled backwards as she stuttered, her eyes wide as she stared at the creature that encased her friend. “Can you hear me, Dustin?”

Dustin’s figure could vaguely be seen within the creature, his eyes glowing bright along with the markings painted over his skin. Though his mouth was not moving, his words could be heard within Abby’s mind.

“I-I-I can hear you,” Dustin’s thoughts echoed as Abby sighed in relief. “What-What happened to m-me? I don’t und-understand what’s going on right now! Abby, what’s going on?”

“You saved us is what’s going on,” Lex’s aggravated tone of voice sounded from the beachside of the cliffs as he stood there with his sister still knocked out within his arms. He frowned as he examined the glowing creature before them, the tentacle monster seeming to momentary retreat towards the ocean. “You lied when you said you weren’t anything special; when were you going to tell us about this power you have? This sort of thing should not be kept secret!”

“It’s obvious he didn’t know about it!” Abby snapped in retort to the male twin’s prying, her hand reaching forward and touching the glowing creature’s skin. It was solid and warm to the touch; it was almost as if it were a living, breathing creature. “Dustin, this is amazing; that ring of yours is truly made for a hero.”

“Now’s not the time for that!” Lex growled as a tentacle reached up once more, the squid pulling itself up to face Dustin once more. “You better figure out how to work that power of yours, buddy; if you don’t hurry, the monster’s going to get you for sure!”

Dustin inwardly gulped at Lex’s words, his vision focused on the squid as it fully pulled its ugly self onto the cliffs. He had little time to question his newly found powers; he had to make a stand against the creature and end things quickly. He had his life and the life of his new friends on the line.

Mobile Suit of the week by Sfreedom
GNT-0000 00 Qan[T] (aka 00Q, 00 Qan[T], pronounced "Double-Oh Quanta") ,the successor unit to the GN-0000+GNR-010 00 Raiser in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 The Movie:A wakening of the Trailblazer. The unit is piloted by Setsuna F. Seiei.

In the Annno dommo Time line ,The 00 Qan[T] is a fifth Generation Gundam designed and tuned specifically for Celestial Being's first Innovator, Gundam Meister Setsuna F. Seiei,00 Qan[T] is the latest mobile suit (MS) designed by Celestial Being. Its blueprints originated from an Innovators draft and was sent over from Veda/Tieria (with level 7 clearance) for Celestial Being engineers to analyze and develop. The unit possesses two newly created GN Drives specifically made for its Twin Drive System. These solar furnaces are located on its back and underneath the shield, near the left shoulder respectively

Armaments:
■ GN Shield
A shield binder on the left side of 00 Qan[T] that is connected to its backpack via the same mechanism as 00 Gundam's "Drive Arm". Other than possessing 00 Qan[T]'s other GN Drive underneath, it also acts as the storage and quick-recharge unit for the GN Sword Bits when they are not actively used. There is also a hidden beam gun on the shield for missile interception purposes.[2] The shield can also swing to the rear of 00 Qan[T] and make the two GN Drives physically connect with each other.[2] It is in this configuration that the Quantum System is used in order to amplify the power of the machine's Quantum field of communications.[3] When the Sword Bits are deployed, they are expanded toward both sides of the GN Shield, and simultaneously fly towards the locked-on target

■ GN Sword V
The 00 Qan[T]'s primary weapon. It is fully made from the green material used to make GN Condensers. In conjunction to an ordinary rifle mode, it can also combine with the GN Sword Bits to either form a buster rifle or a buster sword depending on the formation.[7][2] With all six GN Sword Bits attached to the sword in its buster rifle mode, 00 Qan[T] possesses the ability to create a large beam saber similar to the Raiser Sword while in Trans Am.[3] When not in use, the it is stored on Qan[T]'s left waist

■GN Sword Bits
Stored on the GN Shield are six GN Sword Bits,[8] of which there are 3 different types. The 2 A Bits are long bits which are usable as separate homing projectiles or as hand-held swords.[5] The B Bits perform in the same manner, but possess the ability to generate a beam saber.[9] The C Bits are similar in function to the A Bits, but are half the size of the latter. They have hidden handles that enable them to function as hand-held swords [2]. They also possess many attacking roles in Qan[T]'s coco such as attacking individually or forming up as a whole set with the GN Sword V to become either a buster rifle or a buster sword.[2] In addition to offense, the bits can also create a GN Field when positioned together in a circle[2] and aid in quantum teleportation by grouping into a circular, portal-like formation.[3] Through combining an A bit and a B bit, a larger sword can be formed. The sword bits are robust enough to withstand a few attacks, therefore it is possible that they have defensive capabilities. They also seemingly appear to aid the function of the Quantum System when the system is deployed.

System Features:
Bit Control System
The system that controls the sword bits

■Miniature Veda Terminal
To help Setsuna sort through the massive irrelevant data during the upcoming interface with the ELS inside their core ship, Tieria Erde ordered the installation of a miniature Veda terminal on-board the 00 Qan[T].[3] Tieria uploads a holographic version of himself to assist Setsuna

■Quantum Brainwave Control System
■Twin Drive System
■Quantum System
■Quantum Teleportation System
■Trans-Am System

Band Spotlight by Skilletfan
So for this week I am doing a spotlight on the band Staind. They have some good songs like for example For You but I cannot include that song so I was going to embed a video but it doesn’t work either. They do have a website, and here is the link if you are interested in finding out more about them. http://www.staind.com/

The story of the Fusion Fighters- A Fusionfall fan-fiction by razorfang
Note from the Author: Due to technical difficulties chapter 9 will have two parts. So please wait patiently for it.

The chill night air pressed against my skin. Razor Fang was perched upon the top of City Station tower with his team. Fusion monsters were gaining ground, getting closer and closer to the city. “Alright everyone,” I turned to them, “This is it. We must hold this city by ourselves until reinforcements arrive.” The monster’s roars could be heard loudly from the top of the tower. “I have called in a few people to help us along with our team. Granite piped up “Well what’s the plan for right now?” I turned my back to them and gave a weary smile “Follow me.” I jumped off the top of the tower and pulled out my nanocom summoning my Dexter nano. “Salutations” he said. “Whoa! What are you doing? Why are we falling?” He asked. “Just use your powers” I commanded him. “GLIDE!” He shouted as he propelled as through the air to safely land on a nearby building. Astro, Granite, Special, and Zora followed close behind. Granite was carrying Zora since she didn’t have any nanos. Zora jumped out of Granite’s arms. “Are you crazy!” she yelled. I only smiled. “Come on everyone we have to get started. Astro you and Special take the Western half. Granite, Zora you two take the Eastern side.” I ordered them. “What will you do?” Special asked. “I’m going straight down the middle. Taking out everything I can.” They were all silent. Zora finally spoke up “That’s suicide. You can’t possibly take on all of those monsters.” Granite put an arm on her shoulder “Zora you’re new on the team so I’ll just tell you now. Razor can totally handle himself.” She started to argue but he just picked her up and jumped off the building heading toward the east end of the city. Astro summoned his hover board and jumped down as well. Special turn to go after him and summoned her vehicle as well. She turned to me “Be careful” and she went off into the night.

After they had all gone I pulled my sword out again. An entire army of monsters where heading straight toward me. Taking out my nanocom I summoned my Samurai Jack nano. “Let’s do this” I said to him. I jumped down from the building and charged right toward the army. I felt confident in my abilities as I charged into battle. I slashed and cut right through every monster that tried to stand in my way. Streetgrinders and Vile Cabinets where on the front lines. Leaping up on top of the nearest Vile Cabinet I stabbed with my sword straight into it. Then pulling out my rifle I shot a Street grinder and blew it to pieces. “Hey! I could really use your help right now” I said pulling out my nanocom and continuing to fight. “I can handle these guys but my team may need help.” The voice of Dexter came from the nanocom. Dexter was the highly ingenious mind behind Dexlabs, one of the greatest contributors to the war cause. “My fleet of air ships is crossing over into City Station now. I have sent backup to the coordinates you have asked.” He went silent for a moment. “Are you sure you don’t need some help?” He asked. “Of course I don’t” I said as I through my sword impaling a Sky Drone out of the air. “Well I can see from up here that you’re about to be over whelmed.” I don’t understand what he is talking about I said to myself, I have been destroying these things left and right. There can’t possibly be that many more. The sound of nanos being summoned focused me back into reality. Dexlabs operatives where zooming down, firing into the enemy army. This angered me “I told you I didn’t need help!” I shouted into my nanocom. “Don’t be stupid!” Dexter retorted. “You may have taken out half of that small faction but in case you haven’t noticed there are terrafusers in their back lines. They’ll just keep spawning.” I took notice of this now. Monsters were popping up everywhere. For everyone one I killed, two took its place. How did I miss that? “Fine,” I said “Come get me and take me over to the other side. I’ll take out the terrafusers myself.” It took Dexter a moment to reply. “In case you haven’t noticed we are already in a battle ourselves.” I looked up. Dexter and his fleet of airships were battling Fuse’s ships in the air. All over City Station skyline, as far as the eye could see, were huge amounts of enemy airships. Dexter was severely out numbered. “How many ships do you have in all?” I asked. “Fifteen,” He replied “White Knight also contacted me after you spoke with him. He is sending reinforcements from Providence.” What? I didn't wall White Knight. “Dex, I didn’t wall White Knight.” A laser blast hit the street next to me so I ran and ducked for cover. “Who did you call then?” He asked. “Oh just an old friend.” I said as I jumped out from my hiding place and slashed and Asphalt Creep. Dexter didn't say anything after that. I wish he would hurry and get here. I could use his help. I took a turn onto a different street and pulled my nanocom out. "Hey Blake," I said into it "How close are you to the city?" It was a moment before he answer. "We're almost there. Providence got in our way and wouldn't let us leave until we agreed to let them transport us." He started to break up. "Alright. Come find me when you get here." "Roger that" He replied and the call went dead. Putting my nanocom back into my pocket I started out the door of the building. Then a crash came from inside the ceiling. I quickly unsheathed my sword and leapt at the intruder holding my sword to his throat. "Whoa! Calm down there Razor." Came a familiar voice. The dust parted revealing Rex of Providence. "Is this how you greet your friends?" He asked. I pulled my sword away and smiled "I was ready for an attack." We both raised hands in a high five. "Well I got your call. And better yet I brought the some backup of my own." The sound of heavy blaster pierced the air. "Sounds like you brought a lot of gun ships." "Yea so we should go join them." Rex stepped back and used his powers to grow his mechanical wings. They looked like two fans attached to his back. Rex was an EVO. Which meant he had microscopic machines inside him that let him do incredible things. I got on his back. "Hold on" He said as he pulled his goggles down. He pushed off and we where high above City Station in seconds. The city would have looked cool if it wasn't be attacked by an army of fusions. "Their army is huge. Fuse must have sent all his minions in downtown here." Rex dodged a Sky Drone. "Yea it looks pretty intense. Nothing a couple of pros can't handle though" He replied laughing. A unit of Sky Drones started coming toward us. At least fifteen. "Uh, Razor. We have a problem." I could sense them coming. "I'll take care of them" I stood up on his back and waiting for the right time jumped onto the nearest Sky Drone with my sword impaling it. I continued in this manor until they were all gone. On the last one I jumped off and landed on Rex again. "Well that was creative I guess" Rex said laughing. We flew down to the front lines. "BACK TO BACK!" I yelled to Rex over the sound of the battle. Rex grew out his B.F.S(Big Fat Sword). I unsheathed my own blade. We stood with our backs turned to each other. Enemy after enemy fell at our feet. Nothing could touch us. "Rex," I shouted "We should try and charge through their ranks. See if we can get to those terrafusers. Or else this will get us nowhere." Rex made the end of his sword spin like a saw and he swung at a Supersonic Scorpion cutting it in two. Then his sword grew back into him arm. "Alright, sounds like a plan" He grew his giant fists. I turned to the rest of the monsters. "CHARGE!"

Missiles where being fired everywhere. Granite and Zora had already destroyed countless fusions. For a rookie she isn't that bad I thought to myself. East District was in a state of panic. Air ships where flying around, having a death match in the air, almost colliding into each other. If something happens to her I'll never forgive myself I vowed. "Granite!" Zora grabbed my arm in panic "Those people are in trouble" She said pointing to an upturned car being smashed by Dire Raptors. Stealing a move from Razor I threw my sword and impaled one while Zora ran ahead and cut one in half. Pulling my sword out of the corpse I summoned my Humongosaur nano. "Come on we need to get this car upright so these people can escape" I told him. Zora stood back as Humongosaur, and I heaved the car over. For a nano he was strong. Like the alien he was made after. I returned him to the nanocom and handed it to Zora. "Take it. It'll save your life." She shook her head "You may need it. And I don't want you to risk your life for me." I took her hand and placed the nanocom in it "Please take it I insist. Just press any of these three buttons," I said indicating the buttons "To summon a nano. Then this one to turn on the communicator." She put it in her pocket "I'll take care of it." A blast from a nearby air ship made a crater in the ground and sending us flying across the street. I think some of my ribs were bruised at this point. Suck it up Granite I told myself I have to protect Zora! Fusions were now everywhere. Apparently that was a terrafuser being sent down. Hydro Slammers began spawning and heading straight for the nearest person, Zora. Pain was now gone from my feelings. All I had to do now was protect Zora. I just started going berserk on everything I saw. Slashing, and cutting, everything fell before me. "STAY AWAY FROM HER!" I screamed at them. I threw my sword at another one and impaled it. Then pulling my gun off my back I broke it over the head of another fusion breaking its skull. Then I just went to punching them. Probably not my best idea, but whatever. I just kept hitting and punching everything that stood in front of me. The corpse of the Hydro Slammer I impaled was about five feet away. I grabbed it and then stabbed behind me killing another one. I heard Zora's scream from behind me. Without thinking I did the first thing I thought of and jumped backwards over her, landing on the Hydro Slammer and stabbing it in the head. I jumped down from the corpse and grabbed Zora's hand. "Come on we have to go find the terrafusers so we can destroy them."

EDIT: Sorry everyone, but there will not be a gazette issue this week. My mom is in the ICU and I don't feel like I'll be able to concentrate enough to write today's issue, but there will be one next week.

Writer’s Spotlight by Turqoiseangel
I’ve decided to feature another of Alice’s stories, I hope you enjoy!
My competitive nature: Chapter One: Losing No More
I always felt that I was second in the eyes of my parents, constantly trailing at the heels of my older brother, Adam. A future delight in the culinary world, my brother was probably one of the best cooks in our area, or the entire world from what my parents believed. Yes, Adam was always the favorite child, or so it seemed as I watched my parents over the years, their compliments overflowing for Adam, and Adam alone. Just once, I wanted to be complimented on something that I did, something I accomplished. Just once, I wanted to get praise for my actions, instead of being ignored. Just once, I wanted my parents to say that they were proud of me. Just once, I wanted the fame and glory all for myself. “Just once” wasn’t as far off as I believed.
Entering high school, I decided to try my luck at just about any activity I could find. All just to see if there was anything I could do that could be greater than what my brother had accomplished. I pushed myself to compete in contests dealing with my artistic abilities; however, the paintings I created were just one step up from those of a caveman. I even tried to write a simple poem, or even a short story; but alas, I could not even write a sentence before I ran out of ideas. Sports were another issue entirely, being as how I was never the most athletic person in any of my classes. My competitive nature was driving me crazy, but I just didn’t know what I could possibly do to force my brother off of his high throne, and become the star that shined brightest in my parents’ eyes. My hopes and dreams began to dwindle like a dying flame, and I could not help but think that I was destined to lose the battle forever.
That was, however, until I came across a poster in the hallway while walking to class one day. My attention was grabbed immediately by its vibrant colors, and its unique designs. I came to a halt in front of the poster, my eyes scanning the words that were written upon the parchment.
‘Join the Music Program
Discover Life Through Music
Room 265’
My gray eyes widened as I continued to stare at the poster, repeating the words in my head for what seemed like five minutes. “This is it,” I whispered to the deserted hallway, before I took off towards my destination, “this is exactly what I need.”
When I finally made it to my destination, I stood my ground outside the polished, wooden door. What awaited me beyond that door? What was calling me inside? What in the world was I doing there? I began to hesitate, my own thoughts trying to confuse me and force me to turn around and continue on my way. I probably would have left too, if the door hadn’t opened right then and there.
I held my breath as I gazed up at the man standing before me, his blue eyes staring down at me in question. He couldn’t be the music teacher, could he? He looked like he was still in his late teens, with deep auburn hair cut just below his ears and a tall figure of around six feet. I felt like I was in the presence of a giant, since I was barely five feet tall. He wore a long-sleeved black shirt, and faded jeans that gave the impression that he was just a student, like myself, and most definitely not a teacher.
“Can I help you?” The man asked, his eyebrows raised as he questioned my being there. “Are you looking for the music teacher?”
See, I told you; he was most definitely not the music teacher. But then, who was this mysterious man anyway?
“Um…well, actually…yes, I am looking for the music teacher,” I answered, my voice quiet as a mouse as I became shy in the presence of this stranger, “do you know where I could find…?”
“Mr. Randal, some girl is here to see you!” The man called into the room, before pushing past me, “I’ll be back later!”
How rude! Gosh, if I weren’t in school, I would have given him a piece of my mind. My anger was relieved, however, when I finally managed to inch my way into room 265. The whole environment was just dazzling, with instruments all lined up in the rows of cubbies on the wall. Stands were scattered evenly throughout the room, each one next to a chair for the players. My goodness, it was magical to me. Sure, not many people would have thought it was as amazing as I believed, but all that matters is what I saw in my mind. All that mattered is that I was able to find a way to beat my brother in this room.
“I’ve never seen you before, miss,” a deep voice interrupted my thoughts, “what can I do for you?” I turned quickly to see an older man, at least in his mid-thirties, towering behind me. Another man of at least six feet, why must everyone be a giant that towers over me while I just stand there cowering below? Putting my thoughts aside, I quickly came to the realization of who this man was. It had to be Mr. Randal, the music teacher.
“Um…hello, sir,” I became hesitant once again, as I tried to stumble through my words, “you see, I…well…that is…um…I hear that there’s a music program at this school…and, well…I’m…”
“So, you’re interested in our music program?” Mr. Randal gave me a warming smile, “that’s splendid, I’ve been hoping to gain a few new students this year.”
“I saw the sign in the hallway,” I continued with my rambling, “it was so bright that it caught my attention…and, well…um…I’ve never played an instrument before, so I…”
“That’s even better!” Mr. Randal interrupted me, extending a large hand towards me, “I’m Richard Randal, and you, miss?”
“I’m…” I took a hold of Mr. Randal’s large hand, amazed at how strong his grip was compared to mine as we shook hands, “I’m Rae Dawson.”
“Welcome to the Music Department, Miss Dawson,” Mr. Randal released my hand, making his way over to where the cubbies waited, “let’s see, you need an instrument…does any certain one interest you?”
“Um…well…” I should have probably thought about what exactly I was getting into before I stormed down the hallway in confidence. First of all, what in the world was I thinking? What chance did I possibly have at being a musician? I’ve never even thought about playing an instrument before, so why did I even think I could do it in the first place? Stupid me, stupid competitiveness, stupid American society, I blame my brother for everything. Well, I could also blame society, the president, and the rude guy too. That’s right, it’s entirely the rude guy’s fault!
“Um, Miss Dawson…are you all right?” My thoughts escaped me as I heard Mr. Randal’s voice, “you seem to be a little out of it.”
“Oh, I’m fine!” I quickly recovered from my daze, “I was just thinking about the instruments is all.”
“Oh, well do you have any specific interests?” Mr. Randal questioned, looking down at me, attentively waiting for my answer.
What instrument did I want to play? Why couldn’t I have thought about that a little bit before I even came running down to the room? What instruments were there that I could play? Let’s see, common sense: there’s the drums, the string instruments, the trumpets, the saxophones, and so many more that I can’t even remember them all. What instrument was there for me?
“Well, I’m not exactly sure what instrument would be good for me,” I answered finally after several minutes of trying to come to a conclusion in my mind, “so maybe I should just go.”
“Nonsense, I’m sure we can get you playing any instrument perfectly,” Mr. Randal smiled down at me. “You know, I am in somewhat of a need for a flute player.”
Flute. Now which instrument was the flute again? Was it that black instrument that you play with a reed? No wait, that’s a clarinet! Then, what was a flute? Flute? Wait, isn’t a flute that long, silver instrument? Yes, that’s what a flute is! But, how in the world does someone even play that thing? And didn’t I read somewhere that flute is really hard to learn for beginners? Great, I was getting stuck with the hard instrument! I think my confidence meter fell to zero.
“Um, are you sure I can play the flute?” I questioned, trying to weasel my way out of the situation, “I mean, I bet that I’d do much better on an instrument like…that metal triangle that you simply tape on…yeah, that’s the kind of instrument for me.”
“Of course you can play the flute, I have a feeling you will be an expert in no time,” Mr. Randal nodded as he removed a long, slender, black case from the many cubbies. “This one right here will be perfect for you.”
I hesitantly stared at the case as Mr. Randal pushed it in my direction. I couldn’t play that flute, even if I tried. Why did this man have so much confidence in me? Must be the whole teacher thing: always there to try and lead their students down the path of greatness. Only, the path Mr. Randal was leading me down was the path of complete screw-ups.

What’s New in FusionFall by Skilletfan
VAN KLIESS IS A NANO! along with Rath and AmpFibian.  Albedo is also in the game not as a character but to fight instead and it’s not a fusion. There is also the Rath fan club npc characters in mojo's volcano that help with obtaining the Rath nano and also sell the Rath fan club shirt and Rath mask.  I give this a 5/5 just because of the Van Kliess nano being added.
