Hacked taros are basically just imaginary. You dont need to work to get them, and you can do anything with them because they're not really there. They're unfair and kill the economy. Not only that, they'll result in the banning of hundreds of players. They're good for the economy TA LOCO they're good for the economy...

I meant that the taros themselves are basically imaginary, but the fiasco isn't. The hacked taros kill the economy and when the GMs find out, many people will be banned, including the innocent ones. It's a dystopia in the making.

To understand why hacked taros are "bad for the economy", you'll have to learn some basics of economics.

So - to make it easier - let's move the exact same idea to the real world:

   Why is it bad for the world's economy if Joe Criminal printed out (somehow) a Quadrillion Dollars in perfect counterfeit money?
   In this picture, no one could tell in ANY way which bills were real or counterfeit.

That's also true - but if he hasn't figured out why it's bad in terms of game dynamics, do you think he'll understand the deeper reasoning??



This may be a good time to bring up another - but Very Related - concept.

A hack is not a bug exploit is not a bot.

In reverse order, a bot is when you use a program to automate some normal, legal behavior of the game. I believe that the FF account agreement prohibits bots - but I could be mistaken. Keep i mind though - a bot is not a hack. ( http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/17117-Hack-resistance?p=120377&viewfull=1#post120377- search for 'What is hacked in this example?' )

A Bug Exploit is not a hack - it is a special case of an Easter Egg (like the jump "hack"). In fact, the only difference between a Bug Exploit and an Easter Egg is that the former would get fixed quickly by the dev team if they found out about it (and could find the buggy code to fix) and the latter is left in - on purpose (and may have been put in on purpose).

AFAIK, the dev team doesn't seem to care about the jump hack. And some parts of the game have jump pads you can only get to either as a team (rocket/group jump) or with the jump hack.


A real hack is when you are faking out data - one way or another - to the server to convince the server that the game is in a state other than how a character could have gotten it... just by pressing keys. And there's no way anyone could get 2,147,483,647 taros in this lifetime by playing the game - without hacking it. I know of a scenario with bots where you could earn about a million taros a day - but it requires a hundred bots at a time. Anyone got a hundred computers, a bot program, and the bandwidth to run them all?     I didn't think so.
  Even with such a ridiculous scenario, it'd still take 2,147 days to get to that number. FF hasn't been running for the 5 years it'd take. Given that most of us have ONE computer to play FF with, it'd take 500 years. Oh, you have 5 computers? only 100 years.

  So the taros hack is a hack. It's a cheat of the system. In fact, the "taros hack" seems to be a bug exploit combined with a hack - see the above link for the long version of why I think this. (The short version is - a bullet-proof client/server program has the server owning all of the data and the client can't fake out the server. Ever.) I'd bet that if the dev team could locate the code that allows the taros hack, they'd fix it quickly. If I were on the dev team... I certainly would.



Now that we have established what a hack is... it should be easier to understand the deeper reasoning for those of us who care either about cheating ourselves or cheating others.

P.S. From what I see here, this thread is just speaking about the reasons why hacked taros shouldn't be allowed in game. Also, no mention about the actual "method" in obtaining hacked taros has been left out as well. If any of the other Admins/Mods wish to lock this regardless, then please do so as soon as possible.

If I knew - without a doubt - how to... then I'd be e-mailing the dev team to plug the hole in their program. Do you think I want prices ridiculously high again??


A normal player, saving their money (no warps / monkeys) and doing all the missions should have enough money to help finish out one of the seven sets.

If everything's price goes up by a factor of ten, then the only way to get even one of those sets is to grind grind grind until you happen to get the right piece.




[Edit] Besides, for anyone who knows my IG character, I like prices to be low. How do I contribute to this? I grind the Doom Striders - and then sell the stuff well below the current rates.

Oh no, I can hear the "I'm cool 'cause I have stuff you don't" crowd whining now... shrug As the game says, it's not about getting/collecting stuff, it's about the social interaction and having fun.

And that's not really a very fun "kid's game". This ain't WoW, folks.

Well accually Mega "Hacked Taros" do get deleted it happened last yr. Believe me ill even admit that I had someone who "Hacked Taros" last yr. But see that was when I was a young one & didnt think, now im older & more wiser on how to go about this stuff. Although with this yr. these "Hacked Taros" maybe different because supposable these are "accual copies & are better than the Cheat Engine ones." (Not my words)

Okay, so... I just remembered something I learned in history class last year...
After one of the World Wars, basically everything is destroyed. The countries are especially damaged financially, at least the ones that lost the war. One of the counties that lost was so buried in debt that the government of that country was forced to print out loads of money to pay them off. You know what happens when you make too much of a certain currency? The price goes down. After paying off all the debts, the country was seriously in deep trouble. To buy a single load of bread required a full basket of bills of that currency.

My memory isn't that good as most of you know XD so I can't remember the name of the country right now, maybe it was more than one... :p


Well anyway, what will happened is nobody will want taros anymore. They are basically worthless.

Well, what happens when word leaks that there is an infinite amount of taros? If taros becomes so abundant, prices will scatter, and item will only be used to trade for other items, and not for taros. Taros is no longer part of the economy, and only used to purchase store goods and transportation.


Nothing is wrong with hacked taros. Other than the moral sense :3
The worst part was flooding the economy with the taros. That was what really killed the economy. :3 I would say more, but I have HW XD

In Italy, the Lira became worthless and soon they started printing million-lira notes.

In some South American countries, inflation has also led to their governments printing more money - and then other countries viewed their currency as worth less than before... wrecking their economy.

The prices will shoot up for a while, but when people realize that taros are not worth anything, there will no longer be prices... just which items are valued more than others..
