31  General Boards / General Discussion / Re: FusionFall Expansion official release: Discussion Thread on: February 16, 2011, 09:41:04 pm
As cliche as it sounds, we do have many things to be thankful for in the expansion. Unlike the past, it appears that as of now, none of the updates seem to be damaged or bugged. We know the nanos work, we just can't get to them. We know "The Academy" actually is there, we just can't get to it. And the only reason we cannot get to these updates is because of the ID error, which is essentially just one big waiting game. Given the time, the bugs should  iron themselves out.

Additionally, after so many screw ups over the past few months, it would be foolish of the devs to assume the expansion would go off without a hitch. It is possible they predicted something of this nature would happen, but need to wait and see what type of problems manifest themselves before they can apply the necessary fixer-uppers. This may also explain why there may be a delay in fixing the error described above. It may not be the only bug that hijacked the expansion.

For example, take our traffic laws and their enforcement. An officer knows inevitably some moron will go breaking one traffic law or another, but it is impossible for him to predict what law will be broken and when it will happen. Predicting potential problems that are bound to accompany the expansion is the same type of exercise. The devs likely know there will be problems out the wazoo, but have no way of knowing what kind of problems will be coming out the wazoo until they release the expansion and test the waters.

Time to face it ladies and gents. We be pigs of the guinea variety.

Looks like we'll have to have another round of blood offerings to appease the angry green glitch greamlin. I'll try and track down some worthy offerings. The Angry Video Game Nerd of ScrewAttack.com can perform the ritual.

The ID error seems to have become a royal pain in the rear for just about everyone.

But if we were to say we didn't see this coming, I think we'd all be dirty, dirty liars.

Patience gone now. Time to riot in the streets.  Cheesy

Huh. Wasn't aware they were doing away with the Future. That will be kinda bittersweet. Bad Max and Don Doom will be pretty grumpy after they get moved around.  Cheesy

Should we consider moving some of our more valuable loot from our banks and into the safety of our inventory? Y'know...just in case they increase the size of the bank and some things get "misplaced" again?  Roll Eyes

You are telling me he sang the original material instead of the Brooklyn Rage or Leather Pants remix? Shaaaameful child.

Do I want to complain? Heck yes. Will we see any results? Doubtful.  Laugh

Hard to say. As pessimistic as it is, I am of the opinion that we will never see the FF "expansion." According to the site, we should have seen the expansion six months ago. It is November now, making the expansion several months overdue. I believe if they were going to release the expansion, they would have done it already. I am by no means an expert when it comes to game design, and I know my little mind will never be able to understand, nor appreciate the intricacies of programming a video game, but I have my doubts that it takes nearly one year to program one itty bitty nano. Members of the FF community started losing intrest in the game months ago, and are now losing what is left of their patience. Even if the expansion did happen, I don't think it would be the "Second Coming" of FF everyone has been hoping for. FF could be as popular as franchises like Halo or Pokemon, but a six month delay on any game puts the expectations of your target audience rather high. Unless the expansion turns out to be some holy rebirth crafted by angelic game designers from the great beyond, I doubt the expansion will be able to satisfy the community's appetite for game.

Aw. It would seem the set will be a code item after all. This will just cheapen the atmosphere of the original CB set. Wah. TwT

Congrats on hitting the big five-o. I'm sure the 100th issue will be even more spectacular.
